How to find other good humans

Where can you find other Houstonians doing the good, but hard work?

In the age of information, finding real human connection seems like it’s getting harder.

Whether that difficulty is part of the after-math of a global shut-down or the consequence of social media, we may never know. However, we can do something about it.

First, I want to define what I mean by “good human”. Good humans have the below characteristics…

  • Legacy – they demonstrate a lasting commitment to educating, amplifying and driving change. They show up, even in the hard times.

  • Co-Conspirator – they are known for their willingness to cause and take responsibility for good trouble. They don’t mind speaking up, sweating, or getting their hands dirty.

  • Intersectional – they regularly acknowledge and welcome all the facets of humanity in their work. They ask questions when they don’t understand, and they’re okay putting themselves in spaces with people different from them.

  • Amplifier – they regularly use their voice and platforms to create opportunity and provide space for humanity amongst the noise.

Organizations that I recommend who regularly attract Good Humans are listed below in no particular order.

  1. Greater Houston LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce

  2. Project Row House

  3. Fresh Arts

  4. Writers in the Schools

  5. The Holocaust Museum

  6. Buffalo Soldiers Museum

  7. Coalition for the Homeless

  8. Houston Endowment

If you’d like to attract more good humans in your life, I also recommend hanging around Sesh more ;-)
